Hydration and Your Health

How Does Water Help Your Immune System?
One of the benefits of drinking water is that adequate hydration has a significant impact on your immune system. Water helps our body’s systems and organs function at optimum levels. Water is also the main element in our blood which provides oxygen and nutrients to our cells and flushes toxins out of the body.

8 Cups A Day, Really?
You’ve probably heard you need 8 cups of water a day to stay hydrated, but studies have shown amounts vary. Your individual water needs depend on factors like your health, how active you are and where you live.

How Can I Tell If I’m Properly Hydrated?
It’s hard to drink too much water, but your fluid intake is probably adequate if:

  • You rarely feel thirsty
  • Your urine is colorless or light yellow

To prevent dehydration and make sure your body has the fluids it needs, make water your beverage of choice. It’s also a good idea to drink water:

  • With each meal and between each meal
  • Before, during and after exercise
  • If you’re feeling hungry – thirst is often confused with hunger
