It's a New Year: Get Started

Make Your To Do List and Start Doing. If you feel overwhelmed or paralyzed by your to-do list, cut it down to a manageable length. If that doesn’t work, try:

- Just do it. The hardest part is getting started. One solution—just suck it up and dive in. Once you get going, you’ll probably realize it isn’t as hard or time consuming as you feared it would be.
- Get rewarded. Allow yourself to feel good about your accomplishments. Be reasonable and consistent.

Work on Relationships. Whether you are single, married, or somewhere in between, relationships (with friends, coworkers, family and/or your spouse) can always use some fine tuning. Relationships can have a major impact on your health and well-being in positive and negative ways. Good relationships increase your sense of belonging, boost your happiness, improve your self-worth, and help you cope with traumas like divorce, illness, job loss, etc. Here are some tips:

- Listen up. Ask what is going on with his or her life. Be involved. And, know when to go easy.
- Don’t judge. Give your spouse, family member or friend space to freely express their emotions. Differences can keep a relationship interesting; make an effort to agree to disagree when necessary.
