Making Family Memories

Families of today come in all shapes and sizes, and although we lead different lives, most of us have two common goals—to make the most of our lives and create happy, confident children. Want to make it happen? Look at the bigger picture and make your moments count. The rewards are endless!

Favorite Family Pastimes
If you struggle to find activities you enjoy together, try different things until you can agree on a new favorite pastime! You and your friends/family will fondly remember the time you spend together. Here are some ideas:

  • Have a game night—once a week or once a month, you’ll get a chance to sit down together and have fun playing board or card games.
  • Volunteer—choose a favorite charity and get involved!
  • Participate in a walk or run—even if it’s once or twice a year, the togetherness will make you feel good, and it will give you something to work toward.
  • Get crafty—make birthday cards, paint together, or scrapbook a photo album.
  • Try a new recipe—look online or venture to a local bookstore. You can grocery shop, visit while you cook, and enjoy your meal together.
  • Explore your community—designate a “fun time” each week where you ignore your chores and focus on finding something new. Check out local parks or events, take a walk in a different neighborhood, or find a new spot for a picnic.
